Classes
For many, spirituality is key to a vital old age. In fact, aging is often referred to as a spiritual journey.
Our spirit program helps participants experience meaning and purpose in their lives, as well as understand their connectedness—with the moment, with themselves, with others, with nature, and with the significant or the sacred. In a society that defines us by what we do and how productive we are, defining meaning and purpose in older age can become more challenging. The experience of many older adults is that it becomes more difficult to maintain well-established relationships and even more difficult to establish new ones in our later years. These are key spiritual issues which our spiritual program addresses.
InterSpiritual Meditation is a seven-step universal process drawn from the world’s spiritual traditions. It helps individuals to harness their own natural spiritual styles to create a personal contemplative practice that gives rise to inner peace, wisdom, and compassion by drawing on the contemplative wisdom of one or more spiritual traditions. It enables people of diverse spiritual and non-spiritual backgrounds to create engaged contemplative communities based on empathy, understanding, shared intentions and compassionate service for the common good.
Tai Chi and Yoga
Our Tai Chi classes focus the mind on slow movement which reduces stress and produces mental calm and restore energy and physical balance. Tai chi has been called moving meditation. Our classes are useful in bringing meditation into every movement of life. Our Yoga classes refresh the mind and spirit and are a powerful combination when combined with our meditation classes. When the body becomes steadier and the mind becomes calmer, meditation can provide a deep sense of relaxation.
